What is SLES?
SLES is an NDIS-funded support for school leavers (aged 18–22). It focuses on building job readiness over two years after school and is tailored to the individual’s employment goals.
What It Includes:
- Resume and interview preparation
- Work experience placements
- Social and communication skills
- Travel training
- Time management and independence
- Work readiness skills
Pathway to Open Employment, Supported Employment, Traineeships, or Further Study:
- Develop foundational employment skills through training and real-world practice.
- Explore different job types through placements.
- Build confidence, independence, and a personalised work plan.
- Transition to open employment, supported employment, a traineeship, or further study.
Try a Career: Hands On Industry Training
Participants have the opportunity to explore different career pathways through practical, hands-on training and real-world experience. Career areas include:
- Hospitality food preparation, customer service, and kitchen skills
- Administration office skills, computer tasks, organisation, and communication
- Commercial Cleaning workplace safety, equipment use, and industry standards
- Health Services introduction to support roles and workplace expectations
- Barista Training coffee preparation, customer service, and café operations
Participants can build confidence, develop practical workplace skills, and discover areas of interest before transitioning into employment or further study. Support is also available to assist participants in accessing additional accredited training, including:
- Forklift Training (License)
- Other relevant industry certifications aligned with individual employment goals
This pathway supports informed career choices and helps participants move toward open employment, supported employment, traineeships, or further education with the right skills, qualifications, and confidence.
Garden (Supported Employment)
Working in the garden team as a supported employee is a positive, hands-on opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, and be part of a friendly, supportive team while working outdoors.
